If you played Powerball in Gulfport on Monday, dig out your ticket. One player there matched four of the five white balls and the Powerball and won $200,000 after the $1 option multiplied a $50,000 prize. The winning ticket was sold at Lorraine Chevron.

Nobody hit the jackpot, so tonight's drawing is worth an estimated $835 million. That's the second-largest Powerball jackpot of the year, behind the $1.04 billion won in Illinois on Aug. 12, and the 10th-largest in the game's history. We'd call a $2 ticket a cheap daydream.

  • Drawing: Wed., Nov. 4, the 36th of this jackpot cycle
  • Ticket price: $2 per play at authorized Mississippi Lottery retailers
  • Power Play: a $1 add-on

Voting machine problems slowed some Jackson County polling places on Election Day

If you voted in Jackson County on Tuesday, you may have run into a balky machine. WXXV reported delays at the polls after equipment malfunctions at several precincts, and election officials said backup machines and contingency plans kept voting going. Four Jackson County polling places were on its list, including one in Biloxi.
