Five hundred or more people gathered on Biloxi's southeastern waterfront Sunday morning, then marched to Ocean Springs, demanding justice for Nolan Wells. They came from the Mississippi Coast and beyond, including New Orleans, Atlanta and Chicago, and the event was billed as part of a 50-state march.

WLOX reports marchers crossed the Biloxi-Ocean Springs Bridge and called on the U.S. Department of Justice and the FBI to conduct a thorough and impartial review of Wells' death.

  • Cause of death: officially undetermined
  • Grand jury: no evidence of criminal wrongdoing by his friends
  • Family: hired attorney Ben Crump for an independent investigation
  • Walk: nearly four miles to Ocean Springs and back

“All across America, people are aware of this and they're not going to let it die.”

Halloween trick or treating was a lot of fun tonight.

“The first visitors arrived at around 5:15, right up to 8 PM. All of the folks and kids that came to our house for treats were friendly, respectful and respectable. We had nearly 300 trick or treaters, best I can tell. I think that times aren't as bad as we may be led to believe.”

The Wrap

Hundreds of families spent their Halloween chasing the best barbecue at Smokin' the Coast, the third annual barbecue showdown at Point Cadet Plaza. Top pitmasters from across the region came to compete, and Hometown Barbecue's Mark Lambert called the whole crew "barbecue family." Sounds like a sweet trade for the candy.
