- ➤ The Humane Society of South Mississippi in Gulfport is caring for 39 small breed dogs rescued from a hoarding case. The dogs, which arrived with worms, are now being dewormed, microchipped, and updated on vaccines, with spaying or neutering planned before adoption. WXXV 25
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Coast Guard teams from New Orleans, Mobile and Gulfport are continuing to search for a 55-year-old Mississippi man reported in the water in Chandeleur Sound on Tuesday. WXXV 25
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula was awarded a $283 million contract to begin pre-construction on the Navy’s new class warship (FF(X)). The shipyard will procure materials and execute design work for the first frigate, setting the stage for upcoming production. SuperTalk Mississippi Media

- ➤ The Biloxi Visitors Center will host the Lighthouse Artisan Festival on May 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The festival will showcase local artisan work and draw community visitors. WXXV 25
- ➤ The 97th annual Blessing of the Fleet takes place tonight at St. Michael Catholic Church in Biloxi + the event features a poster unveiling and a meeting with the shrimp king and queen. WXXV 25
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Mississippi has launched a rural health transformation program office to expand access to care, strengthen its workforce, and improve infrastructure statewide. The initiative also includes telehealth expansion and a statewide health information system and is led by project director Richard Grimes. WXXV 25
- ➤ Coastal Family Health Center received a $300,000 grant (from the Pfizer Foundation) to expand local prevention, testing and treatment for infectious diseases. The funding will also connect patients to social services, improving access to care for residents. WXXV 25
