The Humane Society of South Mississippi in Gulfport is caring for 39 small breed dogs rescued from a hoarding case.

The dogs, which arrived with worms, are now being dewormed, microchipped, and updated on vaccines, with spaying or neutering planned before adoption.

Coast Guard teams from New Orleans, Mobile and Gulfport are continuing to search for a 55-year-old Mississippi man reported in the water in Chandeleur Sound on Tuesday.

Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula was awarded a $283 million contract to begin pre-construction on the Navy’s new class warship (FF(X)).

Coastal Family Health Center received a $300,000 grant (from the Pfizer Foundation) to expand local prevention, testing and treatment for infectious diseases.

The funding will also connect patients to social services, improving access to care for residents.
