Modern Calligraphy for Beginners

Slow down, pick up a pen, and discover the beauty of intentional lettering. This Modern Calligraphy Workshop is designed for beginners and creatives alike, guiding you through the fundamentals of pen control, letterforms, and elegant design. Through hands-on practice and personalized instruction, you’ll build confidence in your strokes and leave with your own handcrafted piece—plus the skills to keep creating long after the workshop ends.

Itinerary

10:00-11:30

• Discussion and samples of different types of pen and paper available

• Demo correct way to hold the pen

• Students will execute a page of practice strokes

• Students will execute a page of alphabet letters (caps and lowercase)

11:30-12:00

• Lunch Break on premises

12-2:00

• Discussion and demo of using guidelines and spacing

• Students will practice border designs

• Students will design and create a calligraphic bookmark or frameable quote

Supply List

*Paper will be provided

• 12 pack of Staedtler dual-end calligraphy markers

• 1 pencil (regular #2, mechanical or H)

• 1 soft white rubber eraser

*If you already own calligraphy pens, you may bring them to use instead.
