The state Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks announced that Mississippi's first-ever wild turkey stamp will go on sale Jan.

15 for hunters aged 16 and older. The $10 stamp for residents and $100 for nonresidents will include unique harvest identifiers and proceeds will fund turkey restoration.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol began its Christmas Holiday Travel period Tuesday at 6 a.m. and will run through midnight Friday to enforce seat belt use and remove impaired drivers from Mississippi highways.

With Christmas near, doctors at Gulfport Memorial Hospital advised parents to check for choking hazards and battery risks in toys, as reported by WXXV's Everett Ganier Jr.
