COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Tonight, the annual Lighting of the Biloxi Lighthouse event will continue with a modified schedule due to rain — Mayor Gilich will flip the switch from the Visitors Center porch at 5:30 p.m. Festive activities for families will proceed inside.  WXXV 25

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Memorial services for a pilot presumed dead after her plane crashed over Lake Pontchartrain will be held Tuesday, Dec. 9 at Mosaic Church in Ocean Springs (gathering begins at 11 a.m. with a celebration at noon).  WXXV 25

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Bill Cork of the Mississippi Development Authority has proposed redirecting BP settlement funds toward transformative regional projects instead of smaller local initiatives; lawmakers will decide in early January while local leaders call for unified planning to boost the coastal economy.  SuperTalk Mississippi Media

SPORTS NEWS

  • Three-star running back Cooper Crosby from Gulfport signed with Mississippi State University today on early national signing day. He amassed over 3,200 rushing yards and 56 touchdowns and explained his decision to join the Bulldogs as he looks forward to a new season.  WXXV 25
  • Senior linebacker Steven Ramsey, celebrated at the d'Iberville library after an outstanding 2025 season, announced he will join Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. He had 9+ offers and chose MGCCC to continue his football career.  WXXV 25
  • Two key players from St. Martin signed with college teams today as defensive lineman Jayden Curtis joined Ole Miss and cornerback Yusef Colding joined Jackson State University, following a standout season with the Yellow Jackets.  WXXV 25
  • West Harrison hosted an early signing day for three student athletes as defensive lineman Jazear Carter signed with the Naval Academy, cornerbac/safety Tre’von Williams joined Hinds Community College, and point guard Kameron Bolden committed to Pearl River Community College.  WXXV 25
  • Biloxi offensive tackle Hayden Ainsworth signed with the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Wednesday, with family, teammates (and coaches) in attendance; the three-star lineman, who moved up as a junior, will begin his college career early.  WXXV 25
  • The high school football state championships (MHSAA) are underway in Biloxi as teams compete for the title. The live scoreboard displays scores while local fans watch closely.  SuperTalk Mississippi Media
  • Four MGCCC Bulldogs have signed with new schools as Defensive Back Willie Breland Jr. goes to Washington State, Linebacker Taurean Davis to Oklahoma State, and Offensive Linemen Demorrsion Brown and Omarion Bender to Old Dominion.  WXXV 25
  • Picayune Maroon Tide standouts Mitchell Smith and Nolan Wilson signed Wednesday morning to join college football—Smith will play for Vanderbilt and Wilson for the Crimson Tide while MGCCC sophomore Michael Smith signed with his brother’s team.  WXXV 25
  • Vancleave offensive lineman Dalton Toothman signed with Mississippi State on Wednesday and will move to Starkville in January after graduating early (he aims to prove his skills as he continues his Bulldog career).  WXXV 25
