COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Harrison County Fairgrounds and John Clark Arena are closed to equine activity until December 1 because of an equine herpes outbreak. Other activities continue as normal while South Mississippi agriculture officials advise horse owners to quarantine their horses for safety.  WXXV 25
  • Holiday travel is busy as Gulfport Biloxi International Airport advises travelers to set extra time for longer security and check-in lines ahead of Thanksgiving. Officials recommend keeping IDs, boarding passes, and essentials handy plus checking flight status before heading out to avoid delays.  WXXV 25

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Harrison County School District hosted its 4th annual Inclusive Field Day on Thursday at Creekbend Football field where students from D’Iberville, Harrison Central and West Harrison High School competed in games, a kickball tournament and awards. The school district said the event will return next year — inviting even more friends and family to watch.  WXXV 25
  • North Bay Elementary teacher Brandee Burton has been named Teacher of the Month by Huntington Learning Center and WXXV for her work in South Mississippi — Elizabeth Keen highlighted her outstanding performance.  WXXV 25

  • Harrison County Fire Rescue shared holiday cooking safety tips as families prepared to cook their favorite Thanksgiving meals, and Chief Pat Sullivan warned against overcrowding air fryers, under-thawing food, and ignoring temperature checks—practices that can lead to serious hazards.  WXXV 25

  • The school district has begun phase two renovations at Warrior Stadium in D’Iberville after the football season ended—upgrading bathrooms, ticket windows, locker rooms and seating. The work will be completed by August for the Warriors’ 2026 season.  WXXV 25
