COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Gulf Coast Community Foundation launched its new GivHer Circle initiative yesterday in Gulfport to empower young women leaders. The program brings together 15 (professional) women, each age 34 and under, for a seven-month journey in leadership and philanthropy that includes monthly meetings running through (May 2026).  WXXV 25
  • Local comedians Candy and Krangus are partnering with Back Bay Mission in Biloxi to pack food bags and gather donations during their Stand Up for Hunger comedy show—aiming to support those facing hunger this season. The final event will be held on December 5 at 9 p.m. at the Juke Joint in Ocean Springs—each guest must bring two non-perishable food items.  WXXV 25
  • Hundreds gathered at MGCCC Chapel to light candles and honor the memory of their soccer teammate, friend and family member Landon Perry—his memorial service will be held at Venture Church—Stone County Campus at 12:00 p.m. on November 22 with family and friends arriving from 10:00 a.m.  WXXV 25
  • The Mississippi Aquarium is transforming its campus into an all-Christmas wonderland — adding festive decor and bright lights to celebrate a magical Mississippi Christmas.  WXXV 25

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Mississippi education officials raised public school grading standards by adopting a new A–F accountability system for the 2025-26 school year. The revised cut scores come after schools met 2023 targets and were developed by a special committee of educators and policymakers.  SuperTalk Mississippi Media

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The American Council of Engineering Companies held its annual fall meeting at the Gulfport Yacht Club — it was the first time the Mississippi chapter met on the Coast to discuss state and local issues with guest speakers from state government.  WXXV 25
  • The Mississippi Lottery Corporation launched its new app on Wednesday so players can scan tickets for winnings, view jackpots, and join second chance drawings while on the go—boosting lottery sales at local retailers. The milestone comes nearly six years after scratch off tickets first appeared in the state.  WXXV 25
