COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Due to warnings from the Mississippi Board of Animal Health about a deadly horse virus, Patriot Pro Rodeo postponed the DeSoto County Pro Rodeo in Nesbit to December 12-13 to keep horses and fans safe—protecting everyone from a potential outbreak. The board noted that while the virus has caused problems in Texas and Oklahoma, no cases have been confirmed in Mississippi.  SuperTalk Mississippi Media

  • Mississippi Lottery Corporation announced its first-ever mobile app—designed to let players check lottery results and purchase tickets—and said it will be available soon.  SuperTalk Mississippi Media
  • Pass Ice Cream Palace has opened in Pass Christian at 116 Davis Avenue, Suite B—created by merging Ice Cream Palace and Pass Ice Cream. Owner Mary Kephart said the new parlor will feature up to 72 ice cream flavors and offer community discounts.  Gazebo Gazette

  • Rachel Dangermond from 100 Men Hall said a Christmas market will be held on Thursday, December 11 from 4 to 7 p.m. — artist Brittany Heskett will join her as the event offers last-minute holiday shopping.  WXXV 25

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Pathways2Possibilities career expo returned to the Coast Convention Center for its 12th year—bringing over 6,000 8th graders from ten counties to explore 19 career paths with industry professionals. The expo ends today, giving students one last opportunity to learn about different careers.  WXXV 25

SPORTS NEWS

  • Championship games for the MAIS private school football season began yesterday and continue this weekend—Jackson Academy and Mississippi College hosting games—with the Class 4A Division I final set for Saturday at 7 p.m. on SuperTalk Jackson.  SuperTalk Mississippi Media
  • The Gulf Coast Skateparks Association will hold its penultimate youth skate clinic for the year on November 22 from 1 to 4 at the skate park on Hopkins Boulevard—skaters 15 and younger of all skill levels may attend, with helmets required and parents needed to be on site.  WXXV 25
