  • Back Bay Mission in Biloxi is accepting donations ahead of Thanksgiving – local businesses are also gathering contributions – with details from Dhiana Skremetti and Taylor New.  WXXV 25

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • MGCCC confirmed that 19-year-old men's soccer freshman Landon Perry from D’Iberville died in an accident on Sunday afternoon—Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Biloxi is handling funeral plans while counselors are available for teammates and staff.  Gazebo Gazette

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Out Da Box Fashion Show will showcase unique coastal styles on November 22 at 4 p.m.—organizer Rose Payton said the event will be held at the St. Martin High School gym.  WXXV 25

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Some Biloxi businesses and property owners along Pass Road and Division Street may be eligible for a Community Facade Grant provided by the Greater Biloxi Economic Development Foundation, Mississippi Power and the City of Biloxi—grants cover up to 50% of facade renovation costs up to $5,000 until $40,000 in funds are exhausted. Applications will be accepted until the grant funds run out.  WXXV 25

EDUCATION NEWS

  • North Woolmarket Elementary and Middle School won a grant from the Gulf Coast Community Foundation to upgrade its Shark News program with new studio lights, furniture, microphones, and a green screen. The new equipment helps school reporters deliver clear morning announcements, sports highlights, and weather updates.  WXXV 25

HEALTH NEWS

  • A March of Dimes report gave Mississippi an F grade for a 15% preterm birth rate—well above the national 10.4% average and showing that Black babies are 1.5 times more likely to be born too soon. Lawmakers and health leaders met on November 6 at the capitol to discuss improving prenatal care and considering Medicaid expansion to help reduce rising infant deaths.  SuperTalk Mississippi Media

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Gulf Coast Raiders hosted a mini camp at Camp Wilkes over the weekend and held an open scrimmage on Sunday to show residents how they are preparing for their launch. The semi-pro team will start its first season on March 14 at St. Patrick Catholic High School — a few players will also get a chance at college scholarships.  WXXV 25
  • The Christian Collegiate Academy Bulldogs improved to 4-1 after beating Lamar Christian 77-63 on Monday night near Gulfport — the win boosts their season start.  WXXV 25
