- ➤ Walk On’s in D’Iberville is hosting a drive-thru community food drive today from 4 to 6 p.m.—everyone is invited to drive in, grab a warm meal and head home with no questions asked. WXXV 25

- ➤ Early Sunday, a Mississippi woman shot and killed one of the monkeys that escaped last week when a truck overturned near Heidelberg after her 16-year-old son spotted it in the yard and she feared for her children’s safety. SuperTalk Mississippi Media
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The University of Southern Mississippi announced on Thursday a new undergraduate degree in Philosophy, Religion, and Law—designed to give students advanced study in topics such as the ethics of artificial intelligence and healthcare. The program will prepare students for diverse careers and further education. WXXV 25
- ➤ Lt. Gov Delbert Hosemann awarded 130 schools the Lt. Governor’s Attendance Award for keeping student absences under 15 percent, including Pass Christian Elementary and Middle. This award comes as his administration notes a statewide rise in chronic absenteeism from 24.4 percent to 27.6 percent—he will continue to focus on attendance improvements in the upcoming legislative session. - ➤ The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department will host Coffee with a Deputy at Big Daddy’s Café and Deli in Biloxi at 6 a.m. on November 6 — the event will let community members enjoy coffee and meet Sheriff John Ledbetter and his deputies. WXXV 25
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ LSU Tigers hosted the Hancock Whitney Classic at Keesler Federal Park in Biloxi, playing an intersquad scrimmage on Saturday and three seven-inning games against the Samford Bulldogs. LSU won game one 6—3 and game two 10—7 while game three ended 4—4, and head coach Jay Johnson said the event helped the new team gain experience. WXXV 25
