COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ The Humane Society of South Mississippi has released an enrichment wish list for the Halloween season that asks for items like kiddie pools, toys, soft treats, Velveeta cheese — and more to help keep their animals happy while they wait for their forever homes. Items can be dropped off at the adoption center, which is open Tuesday to Friday from 10 to 5 and today from 10 to 4. WXXV 25
- ➤ Megan Castellon, owner of Gulf Coast Foam Party, says the third annual Fall Foam Fest will be held on November 1 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Biloxi Town Green—adults pay $5 while kids 12 and under get in free and kids activity wristbands cost $5 at the gate. WXXV 25
- ➤ The Boys and Girls Club of the Gulf Coast will host its annual Taste of the Future benefit on November 7 to raise funds for club programs — Samantha Martin and Crystal Scretching will share more details. WXXV 25
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Local naturalist James Inabinet, PhD—director of La Terre Bioregional Center—is curating a nature-inspired art exhibition at Coast Episcopal School’s Gail Keenan Art Center after a two-month walkabout pilgrimage with over 40 local artists; works by adult artists will be for sale while student art from 4th to 6th graders is on display. The exhibition will open with a wine reception on November 1 from 5 to 7 p.m., and artist talks will begin at 6 p.m.—appointments are required for viewings from November 3 until December 4 before the show closes on December 5. - ➤ A ceremony held Friday at William Carey Tradition Campus honored late Joseph Canizaro for his role in bringing Tradition’s community project to life—Canizaro Hall, the campus’s first building, was named for him when it opened in 2009. University President Dr. Ben Burnett praised Canizaro’s enduring legacy. WXXV 25

- ➤ On October 24, Governor Tate Reeves announced the launch of Mission 3—a nonprofit that will unite military, defense, and community leaders to support military bases, generate jobs, and boost economic opportunity along the Gulf Coast. The organization will work with local officials and industry partners to safeguard existing missions and develop new opportunities, with Colonel Paul Drake named as its first executive director. - ➤ Governor Tate Reeves announced Mission 3 on the Coast Thursday to support military families, attract defense innovation and help local governments coordinate with military installations. Retired Air Force Colonel Paul Drake will lead the public-private non-profit program—funded by a Mississippi Development Authority grant—to bring community leaders and industry partners together. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Memorial Health System held a Parade of Pink on Friday (October 24th) to celebrate breast cancer survivors and raise awareness for early detection. Employees from different departments decorated pink umbrellas that were featured during the vibrant second line parade. WXXV 25
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Hancock edged Gautier 28-27 in a tight 6A district football match where key scores came early and late in the game—both teams showed strong plays. Gautier will host Picayune while Hancock welcomes Pascagoula on October 31. WXXV 25
- ➤ The Stone Tomcats won over Vancleave 30—23 in Week 9 and kept the top spot in 5A district 4 standings. Both teams exchanged field goals in the first quarter and continued a defense-driven game throughout. WXXV 25
