  • John Majure from the City of Biloxi said the October Showcase will be held every Saturday and Sunday during October — the event invites residents to enjoy local arts and community activities.  WXXV 25

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Freight distribution and supply chain management provider Averitt Express is expanding its Mississippi operations with a more than $9 million investment that will upgrade its Richland location by building a 150,000-square-foot logistics facility — creating 27 new jobs in Rankin County. CULTURE NEWS

  • Thousands gathered at Jones Park during Cruise Central to view classic cars and honor Jim Bryant, whose 1957 Chevrolet was completed by his family as a final tribute—celebrating his passion after his December 2023 passing. The car will appear at several coastal events this week.  WXXV 25
  • Margaritaville hosted Cruisers Tuesday, filling nearly every parking spot with classic cars while guests enjoyed live music, food, and drinks. One cruiser—who has brought his car painted sweet Georgia peach for 15 years—said he loved both the old cars and the friendly people.  WXXV 25
  • At 5 o’clock today, Cruisin’ the Coast showcased its Car of the Day, drawing thousands of classic car enthusiasts along the coast—owners shared pride in their vintage rides. The program highlights detailed stories from local car lovers and celebrates beautiful automobiles.  WXXV 25

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Mississippi's 2025-26 oyster season will begin at sunrise on Oct. 13—harvesters are set to start work in local waters. The new season is expected to boost the area's seafood market and offer fresh opportunities to growers.  SuperTalk Mississippi Media

  • Our Lady Academy beat St. Andrew’s Episcopal School 3-0 in Tuesday’s MHSAA 3A volleyball playoffs — the Lady Crescents now look to win back-to-back state championships with their strong performance. Their win has made them a tough team to beat this postseason.  WXXV 25
  • Pass Christian volleyball advanced to the third round of the MHSAA Class 4A playoffs after winning a 3-1 match against West Lauderdale on Tuesday—showing a strong recovery after a first-set loss.  WXXV 25
  • Autocross has moved to a new course just outside the Scarlet Pearl where drivers and spectators enjoy classic rides and speed tests. The event runs again today from 9 a.m.—5 p.m. with additional sessions planned later this week.  WXXV 25
  • Biloxi Shuckers media relations manager and broadcaster Javik Blake was honored as the 2025 MiLB Future Star of the Year on Monday by Minor League Baseball — naming him the top employee nationally under 25. He has significantly supported the organization since he started his role.  WXXV 25
