  • New and returning anglers are invited to join the second annual Hook'em for Heroes Fishing Tournament in Pass Christian to support first responders and military families. Registration ends on September 5 at 7 p.m. at the Captain’s Meeting Dinner + fishing begins after 12:01 a.m. with scales open from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on September 6.  WXXV 25
  • Biloxi First Roast will take place on September 21 at 5:30 p.m. at IP Casino Resort Spa—Jennifer Walker, co-chair of the Roast Committee, and Dr. Bobby Watts, the roastee, will lead the event.  WXXV 25

  • Coastal Mississippi leaders and advocates are calling for a unified Economic Development Alliance — a group that would bring mayors, supervisors and business leaders together to attract industries like tech and aerospace — to boost regional growth. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Southern Miss marine science professor Dr. Kristina Mojica and Ph.D. student Rachel Lancaster joined the largest marine debris cleanup in Southeast Alaska earlier this summer and removed about 3,600 pounds of debris a day from the shoreline aboard the R/V Steadfast. Field samples along with more than 3,000 pounds of local debris will support a Mississippi Aquarium exhibit in 2026 that shows the dangers of nano-plastic pollution—raising awareness of its environmental impact.  Gazebo Gazette

  • Coast Transit Authority will end its longtime rider hailing system on October 31—leaders say the change is due to rider and community safety concerns. Starting November, riders must board and exit the bus only at designated stops.  WXXV 25
