  • Two Florida residents were arrested in Mississippi on Aug. 19 after a narcotics task force at a Gulfport gas station conducted an undercover operation that found 25 pounds of marijuana and $30,000 in cash — both suspects now face drug trafficking charges with bonds set at $250,000.  SuperTalk Mississippi Media

  • The Ground Zero Museum in Waveland will host multiple events next week to mark the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina's landfall—these include a remembrance service with first responders and the premiere of its new Katrina documentary, 'On Call, Katrina's First Responders.' GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The fifth-annual Biloxi Police Department Citizen’s Police Academy kicked off Thursday night and will run through October, letting citizens join classes, ride-alongs, K-9 demos and a new VR taser training session. Lieutenant Candace Young said the program builds trust by showing community members behind-the-scenes police work—helping them understand how law enforcement keeps the city safe.  WXXV 25

  • The Mississippi State Department of Health declared a public health emergency today due to rising infant mortality, with rates reaching 9.7 per 1,000 live births—the highest in over a decade. MSDH is working with other health agencies to increase prenatal care in rural counties and expand community programs.  WXXV 25
