  • Dana Sanders of What’s Next Fishing Charters will launch accessible fishing trips from his modified boat — Jason’s Joy — in October so people with disabilities can enjoy the Mississippi Coast. Community donations will cover the $500 fare for those who need financial support.  WXXV 25

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A Mississippi Highway Patrol trooper was seriously injured in an on-duty accident on the Coast this weekend — Trooper Tavon Moore, a husband and father of three, is expected to take months to recover as details remain limited.  WXXV 25

  • Mississippi Power announced today that Pedro Cherry was elected chairman and CEO by its board—he replaced Anthony Wilson who retired after more than 40 years of service. Cherry, with 30 years in the energy industry and strong ties to Southeast communities, plans to build on the company’s legacy of safety and reliability.  WXXV 25

CRIME NEWS

  • Rose Madison, a 38-year-old Gulfport woman, pled guilty to manslaughter for fatally shooting Antoine Johnson during a July 8, 2021 incident when his car swerved into her lane—she received a maximum 20-year prison sentence after calling 911 during the dispute.  WXXV 25

CULTURE NEWS

  • Legendary country band Alabama will perform at The Sound on October 2 when gates open at 5 p.m., doors open at 5:30, and the band starts at 7 p.m.—tickets go on sale Friday, August 8th at 10 a.m.  WXXV 25
