Biloxi has eight casino hotel resort operators and three new sites received casino approval from the Mississippi Gaming Commission.

Mayor FoFo Gilich said the approvals — at the Tullis Site near the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum, the old Tivoli site near the Biloxi Yacht Club, and at RW Development along Highway 90 and Veterans Avenue — are only the first step toward future growth in the gaming industry.

Multiple law enforcement agencies coordinated a two-week operation from July 14 to July 29—led by Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch—to arrest 72 suspects for alleged human and drug trafficking and rescue 29 trafficking victims.

Biloxi was given a Municipal Excellence Award on July 23 at Mississippi Coast Coliseum and Convention Center — the city was recognized for its innovative community engagement and for producing BNews Monthly to keep residents informed.

The award is part of the Mississippi Municipal League’s annual effort to recognize strong city management and public service.

St. Martin Yellow Jackets head coach Woody Cagnoletti said the team pushed players hard all summer to build a blue collar identity—preparing them to compete for a playoff spot after a tough stretch since 2018.

They will play their first game at Vancleave High School on August 29th.
