🎭 Culture
SuperTalk Mississippi News received several awards at Saturday's journalism ceremony at the Golden Nugget Hotel + Casino.
The team earned a Community Service Award for its fundraising for Palmer Home for Children in 2025 and placed third for its social media work.
🌲 Environment
The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality issued water contact advisories for Lakeshore, Bay St. Louis, Long, and Biloxi East Central beaches due to increased bacteria risks; advisories will be updated until safe levels are confirmed and alerts end on Labor Day (Sept.
7).
🏛️ Government
The Mississippi Development Authority is hosting workshops on Monday, July 6, Tuesday, July 7 and Wednesday, July 8 to guide local governments and nonprofits through applications for Gulf Coast Restoration Fund grants.
Sessions will be held in Kiln, Gulfport, Lucedale, Pascagoula, Wiggins and Poplarville to review updates and requirements.
🏥 Health
Memorial Hospital in Gulfport is offering weekly outpatient maternal-fetal clinics for high-risk pregnancies.
Specialists Cecilia Gambala and Gabriella Pridjian will see patients on the hospital's first floor next to the outpatient pharmacy (an OB-GYN referral is required).
