The Salvation Army in South Mississippi says it needs more donations to keep its food pantry running as contributions have dropped — many families may be turned away unless help comes soon with non-perishable foods like canned fruits, vegetables, proteins, and cereals.

Lieutenant Governor Delbert Hosemann announced Tuesday, June 17 his appointments to the Mississippi Opioid Settlement Advisory Council—selecting voting members Mark Stovall and Andy Taggart, and Senators Nicole Boyd and Angela Turner Ford—and said the council will guide opioid settlement fund use to support substance abuse treatment and prevention efforts.
