- ➤ The Salvation Army in South Mississippi says it needs more donations to keep its food pantry running as contributions have dropped — many families may be turned away unless help comes soon with non-perishable foods like canned fruits, vegetables, proteins, and cereals. WXXV 25
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Lieutenant Governor Delbert Hosemann announced Tuesday, June 17 his appointments to the Mississippi Opioid Settlement Advisory Council—selecting voting members Mark Stovall and Andy Taggart, and Senators Nicole Boyd and Angela Turner Ford—and said the council will guide opioid settlement fund use to support substance abuse treatment and prevention efforts. - ➤ The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources will host public meetings at the Bolton Building auditorium at 1141 Bayview Avenue in Biloxi to explain the new seafood labeling law that requires seafood and crawfish to be labeled as Domestic or Imported—meetings are set for June 19 at 2 p.m., June 26 at 9 a.m., and July 1 at 2 p.m. Businesses are advised to review their sourcing documents, update menus and train staff as MDMR and the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce begin inspections after July 1. - ➤ Singing River Health System launched its Bridge to Bedside Program today to help new nurses start their careers with weekly hands-on training and soft skill development—aiming to improve patient outcomes. The clinical transition program will support stronger patient care. WXXV 25
