  • The Mississippi Power Foundation and Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce awarded up to $16,000 to 16 small businesses on the Coast as part of the fifth Mississippi Power Shine a Light Minority Small Business Grants program.   • Keesler Federal Credit Union now offers its Appreciation Loan Program to educators in Biloxi—providing a 1% discount on approved consumer loan rates with eligibility extended to teachers, school staff and their spouses.   • Mississippi’s Department of Marine Resources held a public meeting at the Bolton Building in Biloxi Tuesday night to discuss the Fisheries Disaster Recovery Program for wild oyster and shrimp harvesters still impacted by the 2020 Bonnet Carre Spillway disaster—eligible harvesters, dealers, and processors were urged to apply for funding by June 30—.  WXXV 25

  • Mississippi State Health Officer Dr. Dan Edney warned that tick bites can cause serious illnesses like Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and Lyme disease and advised parents to check children twice daily when they play outdoors this summer—medical attention should be sought if ticks remain attached or a bullseye rash appears.   • Memorial Health System hosted a heart recovery reunion today for local heart failure patients to reconnect and share their stories with hospital staff.   • Chris Beard said Ole Miss is committed to playing neutral-site games across the state, including in Jackson and Tupelo, to boost local support for basketball.
