COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ On Friday morning, children at the Humane Society of South Mississippi made enrichment treats for shelter pets—designed to reduce stress and encourage good behavior—and later visited kennels to give dogs bones. The activity gave kids practical experience with animal care. WXXV 25
- ➤ Make-A-Wish Mississippi partnered with Galleria BMW to grant a wish for a local girl with a serious illness—this Summer of Wishes program returns to support critically ill children in our community. WXXV 25
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Gulf Coast Woman Magazine held a luncheon at Beau Rivage to honor the top 100 successful women on the Gulf Coast, and three WXXV team members—Tami Foto, Michelle Eubanks, and Susie Davis—were recognized. WXXV 25
- ➤ Bikin’ the Beach is on its second day today near Treasure Bay in Biloxi as bikers join music acts and festivities. Biloxi police have set up a traffic plan along Highway 90—if heavy congestion occurs—for the free festival that will continue through Sunday. WXXV 25
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ David P. Sullivan, a fourth-generation lawyer with nearly 30 years of legal experience, celebrated his investiture as Mississippi Supreme Court Justice for District 2 in Gulfport — he was elected in November and took his oath on January 6. WXXV 25
- ➤ The USDA announced new state directors for its Farm Service Agency and Rural Development in Mississippi by naming former Pascagoula Mayor Dane Maxwell to lead both agencies. Maxwell will use his public service experience to support local agricultural and rural initiatives. WXXV 25
- ➤ Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport—located near Biloxi—is receiving a nationwide grant to upgrade its facilities. The funding will support projects to modernize operations in the coming months. WXXV 25
