COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The 97th annual Blessing of the Fleet returns today in Biloxi with a shrimp festival at Harrah’s Great Lawn at 11 a.m. Shrimpers will launch their boats on the Biloxi Channel for festivities culminating with a wreath drop at 12:30 (featuring the Shrimp King and Queen).  WXXV 25
  • The Singing River Chapter of Disabled Veterans of America will host its fifth annual charity golf tournament at Hickory Hills Golf Club in Gautier on June 13 at 8 a.m. Donations of $100 include cart, green fees, lunch, and a three-person scramble format.  WXXV 25

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The school district will expand its free summer meal program for kids and families starting June 1 by adding a seven-day bulk meal pick-up option alongside its existing cafeteria service and mobile dining trailer. The new meal kits provide a full week of breakfast and lunch for any child.  WXXV 25

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Mississippi Aquarium rescued three injured loggerhead sea turtles last weekend from Alabama and brought them into its facility for rehabilitation. Staff named the turtles Polygon, Rhombus and Trapezoid and praised the team effort.  WXXV 25
