  • Local entrepreneurs Jason Stearman and Jennifer Miller staged Bikin’ the Beach from May 14 to 17 in Long Beach, with live music, bike contests and stunts along Jeff Davis Avenue, and a Legacy Ride led by former governor Phil Bryant+ joined by Mayor Tim Pierce.  Gazebo Gazette

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce awarded $26,000 in scholarships at a joint Excellence in Education Awards Ceremony for high school seniors and educators, emceed by Dr. Christen Duhe’ from the Gulf Coast Community Foundation. Recipients from Biloxi, Gulfport, Long Beach & Pass Christian were honored.  Gazebo Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Mississippi Highway Patrol is increasing patrols on I-10 and other busy highways for Memorial Day Weekend as thousands of travelers hit local roads. Officers urge drivers to slow down and stay alert in construction zones — a key measure to prevent crashes during heavy travel.  WXXV 25
  • Mississippi Department of Marine Resources is accepting proposals for coastal protection, restoration, and hurricane protection projects in Hancock, Harrison and Jackson counties. Applicants must submit detailed project plans online via the GOMESA portal for funding review.  Gazebo Gazette

HEALTH NEWS

  • Local health officials issued a beach water advisory along Biloxi beaches after tests showed high bacteria levels. Visitors may still walk the shore but are urged to avoid swimming to prevent stomach issues over Memorial Day Weekend.  WXXV 25
