CULTURE NEWS

  • Ocean Springs will host the 'Summer of 56: Elvis on the Coast' exhibit at the Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Arts Center from June 4 until August 27. The exhibit will celebrate Elvis Presley's legacy with displays that invite visitors to explore his musical era.  WXXV 25
  • WXXV's Megan Fayard covers the historic Charnley-Norwood House in Ocean Springs today. The house has stood for over 130 years and weathered powerful storms while showcasing the area's evolving coastal architecture.  WXXV 25

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Naval Construction Battalion Center hosted the annual Black Hell Squad training exercise Friday morning to honor the Seabees' legacy from World War II; WXXV's Asia Ellis reported from the base.  WXXV 25

HEALTH NEWS

  • Developers broke ground on the Tomaston Medical Park in the Woolmarket area off I-10 on Thursday. The new park, designed to run on solar power and expand local healthcare access, is expected to see its first buildings near completion within the next year.  WXXV 25
  • The Mississippi State Department of Health in Gulfport warns that tobacco use may worsen stress and recommends healthier alternatives for daily stress relief. Public Health Program Specialist Supervisor Darrius Moore advises residents to visit the MSDH website for free help quitting smoking or vaping.  WXXV 25

SPORTS NEWS

  • SpongeBob SquarePants will appear at Keesler Federal Park on Sunday, May 24 at the Biloxi Shuckers game, and a VIP meet-and-greet is scheduled from 4 to 4:30 p.m. ahead of a contest against the Birmingham Barons with a first pitch at 5:05 p.m.  SuperTalk Mississippi Media
