- ➤ Officials in Biloxi mounted a plaque honoring Officer Robert McKeithen at the Main Street post office as a tribute to his legacy—his family and community members attended Tuesday morning after a dedication ceremony in 2022 named the building in his honor. WXXV 25
- ➤ Biloxi City Council approved Magnolia Recreation’s bid to install new upgrades at Biloxi Dog Park on Popps Ferry Road at a cost of $22,257. Installation will begin soon to add hoops, steppers, a dog walk ramp, two dog fire hydrants, two dog resting tables, a jump-over, a water fountain, and three waste stations — enhancements set to create safer and more fun space for local pups. - ➤ The University of Southern Mississippi announced that its new facility on the Gulf Park campus is named Kelly Gene Cook Sr. Hall in recognition of a $1.5 million donation from the Kelly Gene Cook Sr. Charitable Foundation to expand services for DuBard School and The Children’s Center. Construction will begin this summer with a groundbreaking ceremony planned for the end of May — additional donations for equipment are needed — to complete the project. Gazebo Gazette
- ➤ The University of Southern Mississippi on the Gulf Park campus in Long Beach has named its new facility for DuBard School for Language Disorders and The Children’s Center for Communication and Development Kelly Gene Cook Sr. Hall after a gift of 1.5 million dollars from the Kelly Gene Cook Sr. Charitable Foundation. Construction will begin in summer 2025 with a groundbreaking ceremony planned in late May—this facility will soon offer new therapy rooms and training spaces for children and future professionals.
