- ➤ Law enforcement carried the Mississippi Special Olympics Flame of Hope to Pascagoula today, where local leaders and residents welcomed the torch runners. The flame will continue its journey across the state to boost support for Special Olympians ahead of the games on May 22 in Louisiana. WXXV 25
- ➤ Jeepin the Coast returns on May 27 at the Coast in south Mississippi, offering a fun community event for locals with details from Jennifer Moran; residents can expect a festive celebration that marks the start of the season. WXXV 25
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Leaders in South Mississippi's blue economy will gather in Gulfport for Gulf Blue Innovation Week, set for May 19-21. Natalie Guess from the University of Southern Mississippi says the event will explore future technology and innovation on the Coast. WXXV 25
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Keesler Air Force Base is celebrating National Police Week with a police expo and Battle of the Badges event (9 a.m.-11 a.m.) at the BX Parking Lot today, then a bowling tournament (1 p.m.-4 p.m.) at Gaude Lanes; additional competitions and a closing ruck will follow May 14 and 15. WXXV 25
- ➤ A training exercise at Keesler Air Force Base began Monday and will run all week, so residents and workers may notice intermittent loudspeaker announcements, sirens, gate delays, and disruptions to on-base services (a routine drill). WXXV 25
- ➤ NASA Stennis Space Center — in Hancock County — is testing RS-25 engines for Artemis missions at the Fred Haise Test Stand. WXXV’s Megan Fayard captured the behind the scenes work supporting NASA’s plans for space exploration. WXXV 25

- ➤ West Harrison High School senior Hayden Boggs signed with Pearl River Community College to further his basketball career after an impressive season with the Hurricanes. He now joins a program known for strong junior college development and will begin competing this season. WXXV 25
- ➤ Pearl River lost the Region 23 championship 3-2 to Copiah-Lincoln in extra innings on Sunday. The softball team now prepares to compete in the NJCAA Division II Softball World Series in Spartanburg from May 19 to 24. WXXV 25
