  • After a tornado hit a trailer park in Bogue Chitto on May 7, storm chaser Ashton Lemley found a frightened kitten hiding among the debris — he delivered it to a disaster-response team for care, and locals are considering adoption if no owner comes forward.  WXXV 25
  • The Harrison County Advocacy Center will host its first guardianship and custody legal clinic this year on May 21 in Gulfport with Pastor Tony Karnes and Jeannie Herrin sharing details.  WXXV 25

HEALTH NEWS

  • May is National Bike Safety Month and local bike experts in Biloxi urge riders to stay safe by using helmets, lights and following designated bike lanes. Duncan Perkins (owner of Tri Hard Sports and Biloxi Bicycle Works) added that drivers must remain alert to keep roads safe.  WXXV 25
  • Bienville Orthopedic specialists performed Mississippi’s first endoscopic spine surgery using the Arthrex spine system, and Dr. Cox said the ultra minimally invasive technique preserves normal anatomy, reduces pain, and speeds recovery.  WXXV 25

  • Blake Burke earned Brewers Minor League Player of the Month honors for April with eight home runs and 17 extra-base hits + a record pace reaching 20 RBIs in fewer than 28 games for the Biloxi Shuckers. This marks his second monthly award following an outstanding season.  WXXV 25
  • Christian Collegiate Academy standout Tahj Hill from Gulfport signed with Northern Essex Community College in Boston to continue his basketball career. He averaged 24 points per game last season and surpassed 1,000 points while helping his team win a state championship.  WXXV 25
