- ➤ A special reception was held Tuesday evening at the Orange Grove Community Center in Gulfport to honor late Lynn Parkhill by launching a $500 scholarship for one high school student entering culinary arts or business management at a junior college—organizers plan to increase the award and offer it more than once a year. - ➤ The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality lifted water contact advisories for Pass Christian East Beach and Long Beach Beach—tests show bacteria levels are acceptable.
