  • Women of Wisdom, a coastal nonprofit, and local residents gathered at Biloxi City Hall yesterday for the National Day of Prayer — a yearly observance held on the first Thursday of May that continued under new leadership.  WXXV 25

  • Local Vietnam veterans in Biloxi gathered to share their war stories on the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War’s end—after Saigon fell on April 30th, ending decades of conflict.  WXXV 25

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center warned that early predictions suggest a potentially active hurricane season, and residents along the Gulf Coast are urged to update emergency plans and prepare disaster supplies.   • On Thursday evening at Biloxi Natatorium, swimmers Annabelle Tarrant and Cody Ano signed letters of intent to attend Marymount University and the University of Tampa to continue their college swimming careers. Tarrant, a state champion with 33 medals, and Ano, who broke his own state record in the 200 breaststroke, celebrated with family and coaches — marking a milestone for the local swim team.  WXXV 25
  • D’Iberville native Justin Walley was drafted 80th overall by the Indianapolis Colts in the NFL Draft tonight and said the moment was surreal—he has played since he was five. He will join the Colts in Indianapolis on May 8, bolstered by strong support from his hometown.  WXXV 25
  • The St. Patrick Fighting Irish won game one 5-2 against Enterprise Clarke — 8th grader Peyton Parks struck out three batters in two innings to help overcome an early three-run lead. The team will look to sweep the series today with a 6:30 p.m. first pitch at Enterprise.  WXXV 25
