COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Back Bay Mission is hosting a resource fair next Wednesday (April 29) from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. to connect community members with health services and support partners; Terra Moreau leads the event to enhance local wellness.  WXXV 25
  • A Derby Day pre-party will take over Downtown Biloxi on Saturday, May 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to celebrate Kentucky Derby and raise funds for CASA of South Mississippi.  WXXV 25

CULTURE NEWS

  • A local 13-year-old musical prodigy released his debut song 'Endless Mirrors' at the Lady May in Ocean Springs after playing every instrument on the track with support from his parents. He plans to continue performing at local venues along the coast.  WXXV 25
  • The Arts, Hancock County is hosting Under the Flower Moon fundraiser on Saturday, May 2 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 22591 Rue La Terre Kiln, where Cecilia Hopes and James Inabinet will join the event.  WXXV 25
  • Robbie Cole was seen soaring over the coast in his motorized glider — drawing the attention of beachgoers along the boardwalk and Highway 90. WXXV News 25’s Dave Elliott spoke with him about his unique style of flight.  WXXV 25

HEALTH NEWS

  • Memorial Health System is urging local residents to register as organ donors during National Donate Life Month in partnership with the Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency. The campaign notes that only 35 percent of Mississippians are registered and explains sign-up options such as renewing your driver’s license or applying online.  WXXV 25

SPORTS NEWS

  • Today, the Pass Christian Pirates hosted the Super-Region 4-4A track championships, winning both boys plus girls divisions and sending top finishers to the Class 4A South State meet at Columbia High School. The boys team scored 230 points in their division.  Gazebo Gazette
