COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Palace Casino Resort recently donated over $44,000 from spare change cash-outs to Center Stage Theatre and Back Bay Mission in Biloxi + the funds support arts education and provide shelter and food assistance for those in need.  WXXV 25

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Southern Miss Dubard School for Language Disorders shared progress on its new facility at Gulf Park campus in Long Beach. Walls and roofing are in place for Kelly Gene Cook Sr. Hall, which will serve South Mississippi kids with language disorders using specialized classrooms, therapy and observation rooms.  WXXV 25
  • Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College is teaming with the University of Mississippi to launch the Gulf Scholars Program in spring 2027, offering students hands-on research on environmental issues at its Jackson County campus (supported by a $75,000 Gulf Research Program grant).  WXXV 25

SPORTS NEWS

  • St. Patrick baseball jumped out to an early lead over Franklin County and won 13 to 2 in the first round of the MHSAA Class 3A playoffs; the team will face Pisgah in the second round later this week + aim to build further momentum.  WXXV 25
  • St. Stanislaus baseball won 15-0 on Saturday over Port Gibson to advance to the second round of the MHSAA Class 3A playoffs in Bay St. Louis. The Rock-A-Chaws will face Southeast Lauderdale & play on Friday, Apr. 24.  WXXV 25
