COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Today, members of Leadership Gulf Coast’s 2025 Class delivered non-perishable food items (collected over several weeks) to Back Bay Mission’s food pantry in Biloxi. The donation will help feed people in need (in Biloxi and nearby areas).  WXXV 25
  • Back Bay Mission in Biloxi hosted a week-long volunteer effort by a group from West Parish Congregational Church in Bethel, Maine who helped with construction, soup kitchens, food pantries, and sorted clothing donations. The group worked to assist residents facing poverty+ they gained firsthand insight into local needs and culture in South Mississippi.  WXXV 25
  • Two Men and a Truck Gulf Coast is running the Movers for Moms donation drive to support the Gulf Coast Center for Nonviolence and the Women’s Resource Center ahead of Mother’s Day. The campaign, which runs through May 6th, aims to collect 10,000 items to provide essential supplies like diapers—baby wipes, clothing, and household necessities to families in need.  WXXV 25
  • The Joppa Shriners are hosting Jeepin for Kids, a fun family event that will begin tomorrow at 1 p.m. at 13280 Shriner’s Boulevard in Biloxi—Bobby Roberts previewed the event and shared phone numbers 601-917-1027 and 228-238-2866 for more details.  WXXV 25
  • Mississippi Power celebrated its centennial year by giving back to local communities and working with local nonprofits to determine their needs. Employees collected and delivered 100 donations - including meal kits, backpacks, and animal shelter supplies - to organizations by April 10.  WXXV 25

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Pass Christian Fire Department firefighter David Easterling completed a seven-week NFPA 1001 Firefighter I-II course at the Mississippi State Fire Academy in Jackson on April 10—his training in fire behavior, suppression, rescue, and incident command met national and state standards and is expected to make a positive impact on the department.  Gazebo Gazette
  • The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks is accepting applications for its new Law Enforcement Cadet class to fill conservation officer roles statewide. Applicants must meet education or experience requirements, pass background checks, physical exams, and drug tests by Monday, April 21 — details are available on the Mississippi State Personnel Board website.  Gazebo Gazette
