  • The Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art will host a gala at the Beau Rivage for its Five Senses of Ohr event in two weeks—Museum Director David Houston said the evening will feature a curated program of art and interactive experiences.  WXXV 25

  • D’Iberville is set to open 'The Wall that Heals,' a Vietnam War memorial at the Bobby Eleuterius Sports Complex after a week-long procession and recent building work, and the city will hold an opening ceremony today at 6 p.m. to kick off the exhibit.  WXXV 25

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Long Beach resident Maxim van Norden, a USM hydrography adjunct professor, was inducted into the Hydrographer Hall of Fame by the Hydrographic Society of America after 53 years in the field—he led naval surveys overseas and launched hydrography programs at the Gulf Park campus.  Gazebo Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • South Mississippi cities and businesses are preparing for spring break traffic this weekend — the Gulfport Police Department said Highway 90 from Cowan Road to Debuys Road will have one lane open for regular traffic while the other will be reserved for first responders as drivers face heavy congestion.  WXXV 25
  • Mississippi lawmakers will hold a special session soon to talk about nearly $400 million in federal funds that were frozen because of DOGE cuts—this money supports schools, health centers, and research.   • D'Iberville senior Avary Peterson was named WXXV Student Athlete of the Week for her outstanding archery skills, scoring a personal record of 293 during the state championships.   • Cecilia Craig, a homeschooled student-athlete who played with the Hattiesburg Forerunners and South Mississippi Volleyball Club, signed yesterday to continue her collegiate volleyball career at United States Sports university in Daphne AL — she said the school’s small-town vibe made her feel at home.  WXXV 25
