- ➤ Mississippi Heroes invites local businesses, organizations, and individuals to join its Ramp it Up 100 initiative, which will build ramps for people needing access — Erik Alvarez and Mark McAvoy are helping lead the effort. WXXV 25

- ➤ The Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce has opened small business grants for its members to fund projects, employee training, and business development. Grants start at ($500) and must be submitted by Monday, May 4 at noon via email or mail to the designated address. WXXV 25
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Team Lightning 12272, a robotics team from the Mississippi Coast, will debut at the World Championship in Houston from April 29 to May 2. Team members Austin Benda, Joey Quick, and Alexis Noble + coach Brenden Phillips from West Harrison Middle School are preparing to compete. WXXV 25

- ➤ Colorado State University released its forecast predicting the 2026 hurricane season will have fewer storms — including 13 named storms, 6 hurricanes, and 2 potential majors — than averages from 1990-2001. - ➤ Today, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office released final details for deputy Michael Jimerson’s funeral in Biloxi, with visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., a service beginning at 1 p.m., and a procession to follow a route from First Baptist Church to Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home that honors his memory. - ➤ The City of Biloxi announced a multi-phase medical development in the Woolmarket area off North Oaklawn Lane. Phase one will build two medical buildings—a pain management clinic and a dermatology office—with future phases adding a new boulevard and several more structures. WXXV 25
