- ➤ Ingalls Shipbuilding launched the guided missile destroyer George M Neal on Wednesday in Pascagoula, Miss. The ship will move into outfitting and testing as the U.S. Navy prepares it to counter 21st century threats. WXXV 25
- ➤ On April 2, leaders from Mississippi State University, the Air Force and local partners raised the final beam for the Cyber and Technology Center near Keesler Air Force Base. - ➤ Jake Cook, CEO at Climb CDC in Gulfport, completed the 2024 to 2026 YouthBuild Leadership Fellowship on March 19, joining 16+ peers to build leadership skills and support opportunity youth. - ➤ Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and USM have joined forces to offer freshmen and sophomore courses at the Gulf Park Campus in Long Beach—this partnership will ensure a smoother path to a four-year degree as students earning an associate degree with a 2.0 GPA will be guaranteed admission to USM. - ➤ At 9:30 a.m. today, representatives from the Mississippi Sound Coalition (with scientists from the Northern Gulf Institute, USM, and MSU) will present two new studies on Bonnet Carre Spillway impacts at the Harrison County Courthouse in Gulfport, followed by a press conference. WXXV 25
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Home of Grace Women's Campus held a ribbon cutting today to open its new state of the art fitness center that supports holistic health in addiction recovery. The $10,000 project was funded by community donations and alumni families. WXXV 25
