COMMUNITY NEWS

  • At D’Iberville City Hall today, a pinning ceremony honors two local Vietnam War veterans—this event starts a Memorial Exhibit scheduled for next week.  WXXV 25
  • Nominations are open for the Caring4Community: School Edition Contest by South Mississippi Smiles—Gulf Coast schools can be nominated until Monday—and the top three entries will receive awards totaling $5,000 with public voting starting April 11.  WXXV 25

CRIME NEWS

  • Law enforcement agencies investigated a string of vehicle burglaries along the Gulf Coast from March 12th to March 21st with reports coming from D’Iberville to Bay St. Louis and identified two suspect vehicles later found in Satsuma, Alabama where officers recovered stolen items including firearms and drugs—five suspects were linked and arrest warrants will be issued.  WXXV 25

CULTURE NEWS

  • Mississippi State University extension’s Gulf Coast Community Design Studio in Biloxi was named one of 54 national finalists to feature its work at the 19th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice. The exhibit will run May 10-Nov. 23 and highlights the project Women in Construction: Claiming Power on the Porch, which builds on rebuilding efforts after Hurricane Katrina & promotes innovative design.  Gazebo Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The 2025 Mississippi legislative session is set to end without a passed $7 billion budget after the Senate did not extend the session as planned—Gov. Tate Reeves will call a special session by June 30 to avoid a government shutdown that could delay pay for state workers.  SuperTalk Mississippi Media

  • The Biloxi Shuckers will begin their 10th season this week by playing a three-game series in Pensacola with a young, talent-filled team (the average player is just over 22). The team will open their home schedule on April 8th at 6:06 p.m. against the Columbus Clingstones.  WXXV 25
