  • The Disabled American Veterans hosted an appreciation day for Vietnam veterans last Friday in Gulfport. Veterans enjoyed a free lunch and community members gathered to honor their service.  WXXV 25
  • Woodside Wildlife Rescue is hosting a golf tournament to raise funds for its rescue work and seeks teams & sponsors to join the event. Paula Woodside and Gizmo are helping promote the tournament.  WXXV 25

BUSINESS NEWS

  • A severe backlog in deliveries from the Mississippi Alcoholic Beverage Control Warehouse has left local bars, restaurants, and liquor stores without product and led three Coast liquor stores to sue the contracted delivery company—state legislators are investigating while a new $495 million warehouse is set to open by year-end.  WXXV 25

  • Mississippi singer Daniel Stallworth from Moss Point advanced to American Idol’s top 14 during Monday’s live 'Songs of Faith' episode. The competition will reveal the top 12 on Monday, April 6 at 8:00 p.m. as fans continue to vote.  SuperTalk Mississippi Media

EDUCATION NEWS

  • William Carey University hosted Transfer Day and early registration at Tradition Campus on Monday and Tuesday; eligible transfer students received a $100 tuition voucher and connected with advisors in-person and online, and a session will run (tomorrow from 2 to 6 p.m.) for those who missed today.  WXXV 25
  • Mississippi community college and university professors are set to receive a $2,000 raise as part of a $7.4 billion education budget approved for FY 2027; lawmakers said Monday that final budget talks will conclude by week's end and K-12 educators get the same boost.  SuperTalk Mississippi Media

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A 3.9 magnitude earthquake shook the Gulf on Sunday night at 9:22 p.m., occurring about 219 miles off Venice and roughly 300 miles from the Mississippi coast. No effects were felt along the shore.  WXXV 25

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Keesler Air Force Base shared the story of Medal of Honor recipient John Levitow, who risked his life in 1969 to save his crew during a Vietnam War mission. The base honors his legacy through the Levitow Training Support Facility.  WXXV 25

  • Sixteen local soccer players and two coaches were named as the 2026 Randy West All-Stars. The games will be held Tuesday, July 7 at Brandon high school with the girls starting at 6:00 p.m. and the boys at 7:30 p.m.  WXXV 25
