CRIME NEWS

  • Charges were upgraded to second-degree murder for Roy Reevs Jr, Rubby O’Neal Reevs, and Daniel Kidwell after the death of 23-year-old Demond Ross on March 22nd in Moss Point; police are also seeking Kezwick Webb, Marcus Jackson Jr, and Gabriel Turk-Magee for the same charge.  WXXV 25
  • Over the weekend, a wildlife rescue operator found a note on her private property showing unknown individuals entered past the no trespassing signs to leave a small puppy in an empty cage with toys, food and water, and she said she will file charges for the trespass.  Gazebo Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Transit service for spring break weekend from April 11 through April 13 will face major delays due to heavy traffic on Highway 90 and Pass Road—reducing fixed route service on lines like Beachcomber and route 34—and affecting many commuters. A temporary Express Route will run nonstop between Biloxi and Gulfport Transit Centers—starting Friday at 1:00 p.m. and Saturday at 5:30 a.m.—with buses departing every 45 minutes.  WXXV 25
  • Mississippi lawmakers missed a weekend deadline to set a budget for state funding after July 1 and now face a choice between extending the current session or holding a special session—Senate leaders and House members remain divided over when to start budget talks.
