  • Downstage Productions Theatre is set to show ‘Somebody Famous’ today at 7 p.m.—with additional performances on March 22nd, 28th, and 29th at 7 p.m. and on March 23rd and 30th at 2 p.m.—as explained by Adonna Disbrow and Wyatt Spears during their studio visit.  WXXV 25
  • Ms. Audrey's Southern Kitchen celebrates ten years today from 11 to 2—serving music, fun, and food for the Gulfport community. Ms. Audrey launched the restaurant a decade ago and has supported local food drives since then.  WXXV 25

CRIME NEWS

  • A Gulfport man pled guilty to kidnapping, aggravated assault domestic violence and witness tampering and was sentenced to 30 years after he assaulted his girlfriend, who sustained a broken jaw, strangulation and other injuries.  WXXV 25
  • Ferrell T. McCord from Gulfport pled guilty on March 20 to kidnapping, aggravated assault domestic violence and witness tampering after attacking his girlfriend on May 25, and he was sentenced to 30 years—20 in custody with 5 years of post-release supervision—with a no-contact order against him.  Gazebo Gazette

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Stone Elementary principal Sandra Danzey was named a finalist for the 2025 Mississippi Administrator of the Year award by the Mississippi Department of Education for Congressional District 4—she will later compete for a $5,000 stipend and professional recognition at an event scheduled for 11 a.m. April 25 at the Jackson Convention Complex.  WXXV 25

  • Last weekend, a tornado outbreak damaged hundreds of homes and caused seven deaths as MEMA Director Stephen McCraney traveled the state to assess damage—Governor Reeves declared a state of emergency while Mississippi awaits federal approval.  WXXV 25

  • A South Mississippi man shared his experience with colorectal cancer and urged early screening while noting that about 150,000 Americans are diagnosed each year — his story shows why timely checks are important.  WXXV 25

SPORTS NEWS

  • Vancleave’s freshman Savannah Hoak was named WXXV’s Student Athlete of the Week after joining her high school’s first girl flag football team while also playing volleyball, soccer and cross country. Hoak said she is excited to try a new sport—hoping it boosts girls’ confidence as she pursues college athletics.  WXXV 25
