- ➤ Karen Sock was honored on Tuesday, Feb. 24 with the Pat Santucci 'Spirit of the Coast' award, presented by the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce during its Annual Meeting at the Beau Rivage Resort and Casino—where more than 600 attended. Gazebo Gazette
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ William Carey University has named Dr. Alicia Purvis as the new dean of its College of Health Sciences. Purvis brings 20 years of nursing experience - including work in emergency rooms and critical care - and will lead programs such as nursing and physical therapy. WXXV 25

- ➤ The Naval Construction Battalion is set to host a blood drive on Mar. 17 at Seabee Memorial Chapel in Gulfport from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., offering donors a $15 Amazon gift card + free AIC testing. WXXV 25
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ South Mississippi’s Junior Seawolves held the only home game of the season for their 6U, 8U and 10U hockey programs last Saturday. Young players sharpened skills at a local rink as friends and family cheered their efforts. WXXV 25
- ➤ Resurrection Catholic School ended its boys basketball season after the team was disqualified from the MHSAA playoffs for using an ineligible player. Principal Kristal Sisson said the school will take measures to prevent future eligibility issues. WXXV 25
- ➤ Biloxi voters can still cast ballots for Keesler Federal Park to be named the favorite minor league ballpark in USA Today’s 10 Best Contest, with voting ending on Mar. 16 (winners to be announced on Mar. 26). WXXV 25
- ➤ Southern Miss swept its weekend series with three wins at Louisiana Tech—earning its second sweep, and will host Mississippi State Tuesday at 6 p.m. and Nicholls Wednesday, while Mississippi State won two games in Texas and Ole Miss lost two at the BRUCE BOLT Classic before hosting Memphis on Tuesday.
