- ➤ At the annual luncheon, the Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce named Dr. Ben Weldon the new CEO (replacing Adele Lyons) while awarding Karen Sock the Pat Santucci Spirit of the Coast honor. The event celebrated local leadership and community service. WXXV 25
- ➤ Back Bay Mission received about $5,800 from Scarlet Pearl Casino's annual change donation drive, which helps provide local people with essential resources and dignity. WXXV 25
- ➤ Gulf Coast Veterans Association was named Hollywood Casino’s Nonprofit of the Month and received nearly $3,600 to support local veterans. The group expressed its thanks for the strong partnership. WXXV 25
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Department of Marine Resources announced that Samantha Savage of Pascagoula won the Celebrate the Gulf Festival poster and t-shirt contest, with her design set to appear on event merchandise at Memorial Park in Pass Christian on April 11 & more than 35 exhibitors will offer Gulf wildlife learning opportunities. - ➤ Dr. Mary S. Graham, president of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, was appointed to Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society’s International Board of Directors—her new role expands her efforts to shape policy and support student success. - ➤ Biloxi firefighters Shiloh Snow, Austin Halat, and Christian Davis are taking a tactical emergency casualty care course at the State Fire Academy. The training covers hemorrhage control, airway stabilization, triage, patient movement, and a mass casualty simulation and is led in part by Harrison County Fire Chief Pat Sullivan. WXXV 25

- ➤ Singing River Health System employee Katy Pittman is serving on a medical mission trip to Rwanda today, where she provides burn care, mass removals (and other vital treatments) to patients who lack access to care. WXXV 25

- ➤ Nominations are open for the 2026 Biloxi Sports Hall of Fame, as residents can submit names of local athletes and coaches on the city's website. The selection committee will review entries before the June 5 deadline. WXXV 25
