EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Statewide graduation numbers for 2024-2025 show that nearly 91% of high school seniors earned diplomas while the dropout rate fell to 7% — a 1.6% improvement over last year. State Superintendent Dr. Lance Evans said the figures reflect the hard work of students and teachers. WXXV 25
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Multiple blood drives are scheduled by Red Cross to ease a blood shortage. They will be held at MGCCC Jackson County campus and Memorial Hospital Biloxi on Feb. 26, Homestead Assisted Living in D’Iberville on Feb. 27, IP Casino on March 2 and Keesler Federal Park on March 5. WXXV 25
- ➤ Singing River Health System in Pascagoula welcomed nearly 40 nurse residents in its Spring 2026 Nursing Residency Cohort—a one-year bridge that offers hands-on simulation labs, mentorship in emergency, ICU and labor and delivery, and advanced certifications to build clinical skills. WXXV 25
- ➤ During National Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, the Gulf Coast Center for Nonviolence is educating locals on the signs of abusive teen relationships and offering help for teens. WXXV News 25’s Brynne Baxley interviewed the nonprofit to share essential resources during February. WXXV 25
