- ➤ Ten Mississippi teachers were honored with the Leo W. Seal Innovative Teacher Grants on Friday morning in Gulfport; each will receive up to $2,000 (for creative classroom projects) to support hands-on learning. WXXV 25
- ➤ Drapundra Anderson, a second grade teacher at North Gulfport Elementary, was named January’s Teacher of the Month by Huntington Learning Center and WXXV. Nominated by Edna Curry, she is recognized for her dedication and making learning fun for her students. WXXV 25

- ➤ Gov. Tate Reeves said Mississippi’s death toll from Winter Storm Fern rose to 16 across several counties *including Union and Alcorn*, with about 79,000 residents still without power and two linemen injured as officials advised residents to avoid driving on icy roads.
