Cold weather shelters began operating Sunday in Harrison and Pearl River counties, with sites opening at 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. in Harrison and saferooms in Poplarville and Picayune at noon; a Hancock County shelter now runs nights and a Gulfport pet shelter opened Sunday (services until Feb. 1).
